To take moving motion shot, we can make our camera static at one place, and let the car move in front of us. this will have the background to be still, but the car is blurred.
However, to enhance the creativity as well as to focus the subject, in this case, the car, in the overall picture and not being distract by other subject in the picture, we can use this method - panning.
Panning is when you take a shot with a slower shutter speed, and then you swivel your hip across according to the speed of the movement of the subject, to complete the shutting.
As you swivel your hip across, the background will be blurred.
When you swivel together with the speed of the motion, your focusing subject will be in focus.
One more thing to add, to pan, you have to set the AutoFocus mode into AI Servo. This is to ensure that the car is continuous being focused as we are moving the camera.
In this case, i used Canon EOS 450D, EF-S 18-55mm @ 18mm, f/22, 1/15sec, ISO-100 to take this picture.
Location: Penang Road, in front of Odeon Cinema.
Due to my skill, the car still appear to be blurred a little bit. Not that perfect. Will improve it... =)
